The series returned for a ninth season in September 2020, before production was suspended again in December 2020 per recommendations by Los Angeles County health officials . In March 2021, it was reported that Home & Family would resume production on March 29, with first-run episodes resuming on April 5 in a new one-hour format, airing on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday mornings. On March 23, Hallmark Channel announced that Home & Family had been cancelled, and would air its final episode on August 4, 2021.

The series originally aired on The Family Channel but ended on August 14, 1998, just one day before the channel became Fox Family Channel, which included a major restructuring of the network's programing. Day 587: When Does Christ Suffer Most?
Hallmark’s daytime talk show,Home & Family, has been missing from the lineup for months now. In its place, encores of Hallmark movies have been airing instead. But now there’s finally a conclusion to the hiatus and a date in mind for the series’ return. However, the show is going to look a little different now that it’s back. When it comes to Cameron Mathison, it didn’t take him long to recover from losing his Home & Family hosting job. After all, only twelve days after the final episode of Home & Family aired, Mathison joined the cast of the soap opera General Hospital and he has starred in the show ever since.
The series hasn’t been canceled; it’s simply on hiatus due to the surge in coronavirus cases in California. Now that the statewide stay-at-home order in California was just lifted, it’s possible that Hallmark will be making an updated announcement about the show in the future. However, as of the time of this article’s publication, the show is still on hiatus and it’s not clear if Los Angeles County will be changing the county’s restrictions or if SAG/AFTRA will change its recommendations. This time around though, the schedule forHome & Familyis going to look very different, Deadline reported. Instead of airing Monday through Friday for two hours each day, from 10 a.m. Eastern, the series will now be airing only three days a week, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

Instead, Hallmark is now airing encores of Hallmark movies in that timeslot. Home & Familyhas been on hiatus because of the COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles, California. On Facebook, the official page answered fans’ questions, sharing that they had to temporarily suspend production in order to comply with SAG/AFTRA. They’re monitoring the situation, and could go back into production at any time.
As of the time of this article’s publication, neither host had given a statement yet about the cancelation. Deadline reported receiving the same statement from Hallmark about the cancelation, as did other media outlets. The Hallmark Channel did not give a reason for the show’s cancelation.
What’s Replacing ‘Home & Family’ on Hallmark After the Show’s Cancelation?
Home & Family has one or more episodes streaming via tv everywhere with Hallmark Channel (Via Cable/Satellite Provider), and streaming with subscription on TVision. Hallmark has announced Home & Family's return, along with some big changes to the show. Other fans expressed concern or noted that with all the changes from COVID-19, they were glad to see the show back but sorry to hear about the shorter format.
While working for all of those websites, Matthew has been able to cover a variety of subjects he is very passionate about including movies, TV shows, comics, and wrestling. Growing up in London, Ontario, Canada, Matthew developed a love for storytelling that he loves to share with others through his writing. Mathisonassured ET Canada that he would continue to star in Hallmark movies, even though he’s going to be on a soap opera now. However, it’s likely that production will resume sometime in 2021, if the safety measures and restrictions mean that it is safe to do so. The show has not been cancelled, but new episodes are not being recorded currently. When a show you love seems to have disappeared from broadcast, some immediate questions spring to mind.
‘Home & Family’ To End With Season 9 On Hallmark Channel
Now the channel will be airing reruns of “The Golden Girls” in the canceled show’s timeslot. Following the announcement, hosts Debbie and Cameron both took to social media to share their sadness about the show's cancelation. This actually isn’t the first time that the show has been canceled. Variety reported that the series premiered on April 1, 1996, asThe Home and Family Show. Then it was canceled, and later returned to The Hallmark Channel in October 2012 when the series was revived.
Since the show’s fans had developed connections to those two, it begs a question, what are they up to now. Based on her Instagram account, it seems very clear that Matenopoulos has made some branding deals as she is blatantly promoting several products. On top of that, it seems like Matenopoulos is spending time with her family as she figures out her next move. He’s joining “General Hospital,” but details about his character are still being kept secret, Soap Opera Digest reported on August 2. When “Home & Family” was first reduced to just airing three days a week, he reached out to “General Hospital” about possibly joining the cast.
In late May 2018, Steines was fired abruptly from the series. It was later reported that there were no complaints about Steines' behavior and that the show was merely taking a different creative direction. Steines' contract had not expired and he was not informed until after he had taped what was his last show. On July 26, 2018, Cameron Mathison was named as Matenopoulos' new co-host, to assume his position in September with the launch of the seventh season. Rather than airing re-runs of previousHome & Familyepisodes, The Hallmark Channel has been airing encores of previously aired movies instead.Home & Familytypically airs from 10 a.m. Hallmark’s daytime talk show, Home & Family, hasn’t had a new episode on the channel for quite some time.

After the long hiatus because of the pandemic, “Home & Family” announced on March 8 that the series was returning. Of course, a lot of different shows and movies were shut down due to COVID-19 and then production was resumed after new protocols were put in place. For that reason, Home & Family fans had every reason to believe that once things settled down, the show would return and air the same way it did before the pandemic. After initially airing on The Family Channel during the mid-‘90s, Home & Family was then broadcast by Fox Family Channel before finally winding up on Hallmark Channel. Given that Home & Family was on the air for so long and it moved between three different channels, it was easy to think that the show would survive just about anything. Unfortunately for everyone involved in television production, the vast majority of shows don’t last long assuming they even make it to the air, to begin with.
Candace Cameron Bure recently told Variety that she left Hallmark to join the new network Great American Family in order to create “wholesome” and “family-friendly” content. Best known for starring in Hallmark’s Aurora Teagarden Mysteries franchise and annual Christmas movies, Candace exited the network in April. She appeared to follow in the footsteps of her co-star Danica who departed in October 2021. The Hallmark Channel Has Canceled Talk Show ‘Home & Family’ After Nine Seasons.
However, even though new episodes of the show aired five days a week before production shut down, when it returned with new episodes, only three new Home & Family episodes were filmed each week. In March of 2021, however, audiences noticed that Hallmark had started airing reruns. Before too long, fans received the bad news that the show had been canceled.
"With the current information regarding COVID-19 in Southern California, and in keeping with SAG/AFTRA recommendations, we are suspending production on our daytime series, Home & Family," the tweet read. Production eventually resumed in March, but with one major caveat. Hallmark Channel morning talk show Home & Family was recently announced as being canceled by the network, and fans are sounding off online. In a statement published last week by Variety, a Hallmark Channel spokesperson shared the news and expressed the network's gratitude to everyone involved in bringing the show into viewers' homes every day.
